INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

March 1, 2007 - Delegates are reminded that on the Thursday 8th March 2007, Australian time, it is International Women’s Day.

The UFU of A National Office has been in contact with the ACTU to seek confirmation on what arrangements if any, have been put in place in recognition of the above day.

We are instructed that the ACTU (Australian of Council of Trade Unions) will be issuing a statement to affiliates for the purpose of disseminating to members.

Further, we are also advised that the relevant Trades & Labour Councils will be organising advents in recognition of the above.

In Victoria, the Metropolitan Fire Emergency Services Board has agreed to provide an appliance with a partial female crew to attend the Victorian Trades Hall meeting.

On a final note this is an International event and we have taken the liberty of forwarding this Bulletin to our international colleagues.
